So glad I did! This product lived up to its reputation. As a yoga Instructor I was looking for something that has durability due to my constant use of my mats. It is nice to have the added thickness to provide comfort.
The Manduka BlackMat Pro is spacious, comfortable, and sturdy for balance and offers great cushioning for the knees and ankles. There are only two downsides the mat gets very slippery the second your hands begin to sweat. No complaints here! This size was perfect for me and again, compared to other mats I have seen locally, they don’t come close!
It doesn’t smell either. My hands and feet sweat a lot and this mat holds me in place. I would never use any other type or brand of mat. Love the extra length and width and thickness as well.
It’s just horrible. I called Manduka and they said “we get this a lot from our clients, and tell them all to wash the mat, scrub the mat, and give it time to break in” well, folks, I’ve had my mat for SEVEN months and still, I slide all over the place!
Worth the extra money, my first Manduka took a beating. It survived doing yoga on damp cement floors for a year in India…on dirt…jute, cleans up easily too.
Please understand that I’m comparing this to a garbage Embark mat from Target. That mat had me slipping and resulted in extra pressure in my hands and knees during certain poses.
The Manduka Yoga Mat is the Mercedes Benz of yoga mats. I was leery of spending this much on a yoga mat but the first time I used it I realized all yoga mats are not created equal.
I believe that I will have this mat for a long while. I’ve searched for the perfect mat for a while now. I love this mat and would buy it again in a heartbeat but I won’t need to ’cause this thing will still be around after I’m long gone! A yoga instructor I work with raves about Manduka and – after two years of ignoring her – I finally bought one. One complaint is that sometimes my hands slip when they are sweaty. This is by far the best mat I’ve used. I used to have to double up my mats and no more. This is the greatest mat ever made.
I have been practicing power yoga 4-5 times per week for over a year. After mats repeatedly wore out on me, my instructor recommended the Manduka mat.
I washed it a second time using the dish cloth and baby soap. LATTE MACHINE.
