Hair Mask

Beautiful hair needs a little help sometimes. A deep conditioner can moisturize and maximize hair’s shine. Show how do you apply a killer hair mask? Follow my step by step guide for your best deep conditioning treatment.

Choose the right hair mask for you. There are many different hair types. Fine hair, damaged hair, and curly hair are just a few. Many hair masks, just like other hair products, are specialized for your hair type. So look for the hair mask that’s made especially for you. Natural oils can also be great hair masks. Olive oil and coconut oil, for example are natural oils that work wonders on every hair type and make a great natural hair mask. Natural oils give hair a sleek look and are much less costly than salon substitutes.

Prepare for your at home hair mask by washing hair normally and toweling dry. Your hair should be damp but not dripping. Apply a thick layer of deep conditioner or natural oil. To get the best effect, there are a few tricks for different hair types.

If you have thin hair or oily hair, applying your hair mask all over your head can leave you with weighed down or oily hair immediately after. A trick to keep hair beautiful is for people with oily hair to only apply their mask to the ends of their hair or at most an inch below the roots. When you apply a hair mask without covering the roots you give the ends of your hair moisture without over-moisturizing the top of your head near the roots.

People with thick, dry or damaged hair should apply their conditioning hair mask evenly all over their head from root to tip. If you have very thick hair, this can be a challenge. To apply evenly, put your hair mask on in layers to reach all sections of your head. Separate hair into three sections then apply your hair mask piece by piece so that you can reach all of your hair and coat it evenly.

Wrap your hair in a plastic wrap. This will enhance the effect of your hair mask by trapping heat next to your hair. To add even more conditioning power to your hair mask, wrap a warm, damp towel around your plastic wrap. Heat opens the cuticle of the hair which enhances the effect of the deep conditioner.

Now that you’ve applied your hair mask it needs time to soak in. Let your hair mask soak into your hair for 20 to 30 minutes. Hair masks, unlike daily conditioner, need time to soak into hair so that your hair can absorb all of the fats and vitamins made to improve hair’s condition.

Rinse or wash out deep conditioner. If hair is oily or thin, you will most likely need to wash hair after deep conditioning. People with dry, damaged or thick hair can usually just rinse out excess conditioner. This leaves hair shiny and ready show off.

Now that you’re a pro, start a schedule. All hair types could use some kind of deep conditioning. Dry or damaged hair could really benefit from a hair mask once a week or more. Most other hair types could get the same benefit from a hair mask about once a month. But if you use a daily conditioner and stay away from damaging activities like over-dying or over-treating hair, you mane should stay beautiful without too much extra attention.
