Watching this year’s models walk down the strip probably brought back some memories. A cross between a 60s housewife, an office receptionist and a bombshell might have come to mind. As outrageous as that sounds, the outfits are really quite stunning. By blending fashion from the 50s, 60s, 70s and today, a new style has evolved.
What is interesting about this year’s summer styles is that there is something for everyone. Dresses that hangs above the knee, below the knee and mid calf are all featured. There doesn’t seem to be any one specific color but a host of pleasing tans, blues, and black.
A skirt that hangs below the knee with a low scooped neckline tops in various designs is great for career minded woman. Square cut, rounded, collared or draped cuts accented with macram or lace create a feminine look. Layered lace dresses show the world that it is okay to be modest and sexy. Tassels that hang in front from the waist are great for providing a new look to a plain dress.
Regardless of your body shape, dresses are made to make you look great. One of the best way to look sexy and modest at the same time is by wearing a belted gathered dress with a modest top. Straight shifts that carry a long lean body are way more attractive than a pants suit. Sheer maxi dresses are the one exception to the rule.
Casual wear features long, loose fitting bellbottoms and of course, denim. The general fashion presented highlights accentuating curves in all the right places than jeans of the past. Skinny jeans are still here and probably will be for a while, so good news for skinny jean lovers. The military scene that has lasted long over a decade is finally over.
The punk scene has not vanished but changed in a more positive way. Gone with the gothic and grunge and in with the leather and unusual tees. Teens are still creating a statement in ways that show style but are using a more motorcycle chic trend to convey it. Biker clothing is also getting a more mild and alluring flair by using suede, belts and color.
A more pleasing look seems to be mandatory for this year’s styles of dresses and outfits. By taking the best of the past and updating to fit today’s world is just what was needed. Hence, what we are seeing is a trend towards well fitting clothes that represents confidence and feminism.
